I started playing in the subway. The subway taught me a lot. I spent a night in jail, I was robbed, I got free food & beer, I was interviewed by the papers, I got a few dates, I gave shelter to a man in need & I earned the respect of old time street performers. Mostly it taught me to write & perform a 3 min pop song b/c that's all the time you have between trains
